I went freelance in June 2011. Before that I worked at The Press Association for four years, where I worked my way up from features writer to become Deputy Exclusive Features Editor.
As well as helping lead a team of 5 writers, sourcing and pitching and writing real-life stories for national newspapers and women's magazines, I was also Deputy Editor of the monthly Chat Specials magazine series.
Previously, I have worked as a showbiz reporter at Bang Showbiz, a features writer at Wessex News and Features Agency, a researcher at the BBC, and done shifts for various magazines and newspapers.
Specialist areas
My main specialist area is real-life and 1st person features. Health, crime, relationships, life-changing events tend to be what I cover most often. But I am also interested in quirky, crazy, feel-good stories, shocking stories, and any strong real life that relates to news stories/trends. I am pitching in feature ideas to various women's magazines and national newspapers, across the board, and very interested in hearing from PRs with ideas. I am also interested in hearing from editors about commissions, shifts and home edits. Thanks very much!
