A broadcast journalist experienced in producing fast-turnaround reports of breaking stories and long-form investigations for local television, local radio and on-line.

I relish the opportunity to develop original angles in order to create distinctive and meaningful journalism. I have a particular interest in public policy and how this affects everyday life and I am a keen supporter of broadcast news as an integral part of the journalistic landscape.

In local television and radio, I am regularly lead reporter for the day’s top stories, often working alone to produce live pieces and craft packages. I work to deliver exclusive angles and source original contributors wherever possible.

I particularly thrive when given the opportunity to use these skills to produce more detailed investigations and I enjoy making complex issues relevant and resonant. To that end, I was proud to be nominated in the Royal Television Society (NW) Awards 2016 for Best Regional Story and to have won the Long-Form News category at the British Public Radio awards in 2013 for an on-line documentary about education reforms. Category judge Steve Kyte (former BBC Radio 5 Live Deputy Controller) said,

"A terrific investigation, very well-researched and produced. A lot of time and effort had gone into explaining the background to the issues involved. The production skills were outstanding and the use of audio really brought this story alive."

Most recently, I have worked as a video journalist for two new local television services in the North West, delivering several exclusives and working on long-running stories.

Work for BBC Radio Merseyside included producing a two-part feature exploring the use of the Private Finance Initiative in rebuilding the Royal Liverpool Hospital and being lead reporter for two of the biggest local stories of recent years - the coalition government's first funding settlement for local councils and the climax of the legal battle in the takeover of Liverpool Football Club.

Other work includes includes delivering a fully-formed exclusive story for ITV Yorkshire and acting as a freelance location producer for BBC Radio Documentaries (producing a presenter and his interviewees for a BBC Radio 3 programme).

Received a Masters (2:1) in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Central Lancashire. As part of my dissertation, I produced, presented and filmed a 25-minute television documentary.
