I like stories and people with a bit of quirk to them, which has led me down some fascinating avenues. I've written about travelling shop mannequins and British showmen; people who live on old minesweepers and lone Antarctic explorers; Cape Cod's missing cod, fashion for female priests, 'Glastonbury with guns' and timewarp B&Bs. I've interviewed art world power couples and rising-star playwrights; philosophers, astronomers and leading choreographers.
Specialist areas
Writing: I write primarily on travel, arts, culture, lifestyle, human interest. I have been a news and features journalist for nearly 15 years, writing for regional and latterly, national media. I am an experienced interviewer, both for print and live events, and a confident ghostwriter and copywriter. I have written several editions of travel guidebooks to Brighton and Oxford, have ghostwritten biographies for individuals, and have provided web and press copy for numerous arts and culture organisations. Press releases: I'm interested in new releases in the fields of arts, culture, exhibitions, museums, travel, holidays, human interest and anything quirky. I often write long-lead pieces for magazines so would be pleased to hear about events coming up in the next 12 months. I'm particularly interested in news / events / travel in unusual destinations or new angles on popular destinations.
