A chartered mechanical engineer, John spent 18 years as an army officer. His second career as a journalist included posts as Technical Editor for Motor Transport, Deputy Editor of Computer Weekly, and

A chartered mechanical engineer, John spent 18 years as an army officer. His second career as a journalist included posts as Technical Editor for Motor Transport, Deputy Editor of Computer Weekly, and then three years as a freelance. He then became Fleet Engineer for Surrey County Council. His most recent appointments have been first as Technical Manager and then Head of Public Relations for The Caravan Club, before leaving in 2003 to renew his writing career. He is currently a freelance journalist specialising in the transport, legal, technical and leisure sectors. He lives near Epsom, Surrey.

Specialist areas

Leisure tavel, particularly caravans and motorcaravans. Choice of best car for towing and general use. Road transport issues including vehicle and driver legislation, safety and statistics. Radio and TV interviews on all above. General tourism features.
