Hugh Roberts is an Independent Strategist, Analyst and Commentator who assists network operators, service providers, ISVs and VAS suppliers in the development of their business modelling and new product strategies, together with their market and brand positioning, customer experience & data management, revenue fulfilment, and the strategic interpretation of new business requirements into technical, IT and business architectures. He is also a specialist in rapid response corporate messaging & PR.
Hugh is co-author of the book “Revenue Assurance: Expert Opinions For Communications Providers” [ISBN 978-1-4398-5150-0] and is a frequent global media commentator in the trade & international press as well as a speaker & chair at leading international conferences. He was the first Analyst to talk about the impact on telecoms of Social Networking (1996) and User Generated Content (1999) and has been Chairman of the World BSS Awards Judging Panel since 1997. He is a current member of the Judging Panel for the TelecomAsia Awards.
Previous posts include Senior Strategist for iGate/Patni Telecoms Consulting (formerly Logan Orviss International), and Consultant Director to IIR’s Telecoms Division, where he was personally responsible for the major trade show ‘Billing & Information Management Systems’, growing it from 100 delegates in 1994 to 6,500 participants at its peak. Over a 10 year period, he was directly or indirectly responsible for perhaps 60% of the world's BSS & RA events. He was also highly successful in personally pioneering b2b/b2p Internet and e-mail marketing strategies.
Formerly, he was Development Director of the TM Forum, where he set up the TM Forum’s BSS Teams for Revenue Assurance, Content & Data Charging and Pre/Post Convergence.
Prior to this Hugh worked in the entertainment industry, bringing award-winning real-time interactive control and HMI systems to market for museums, theme parks, nightclubs and major performance artists. He is an artist and graphic designer and has worked extensively in the music industry (including pioneering work on the development of 3-dimensional sound and psycho-acoustics.)
