I've been a journalist, copywriter, PR professional, editor and feature writer for morethna 20 years. I've written about everything from advanced telecommunications networks to taking a hip-hop aerobics class, and pretty much everything in between. Over the years I have worked on local papers in the UK, written about financial fraud, loyalty schemes and plastic card manufacture for a UK-based international publishing company and represented various publications at prestigious events across the globe.
My work took me to Dubai from 1998 to 2005, initially as Managing Editor of five publications - Computer News Middle East, Reseller World Middle East, Network World Middle East, Pipeline and Banker Middle East, which I conceived, created and launched.
I then moved into PR, as an account director for a leading Middle East PR firm, working across a diverse client base including ENOC, Emirates National Oil Company, LG, Delta, Standard Chartered Bank, Barclays Capital and Radisson SAS Hotels and Resorts.
For the last two years in Dubai, I moved into freelance journalism and PR, ghost-wrote a business book, worked with an enormous diversity of clients performing PR duties, and developed strong relationships with many of the region's leading publishing houses, writing ad-hoc features covering business, travel, motoring, sport, art and lifestyle.
I also edited a Dubai-based technology/lifestyle gadgets magazine, Technomania, for around a year while freelancing in Dubai.
In 2005 I moved back to the UK, working as a full-time copywriter for a leading BTL technology agency, and then worked as a freelance journalist, copywriter and PR person for some major accounts. I also worked with The European Business Awards, and spent three months working on collateral for the Nokia-Siemens Networks merger.
I am now based in Dubai, and always looking for exciting work. I was launch editor of a new regional law magazine, The Oath, www.theaoth-me.com, and work with a number of high-level projects with regional blue-chip companies on an NDA basis.
Specialist areas
I'm a highly qualified all-rounder, with more than two decades of experience in journalism, copywriting and PR, at all levels. I'm happy with features, interviews, writing press releases, ghost writing books, speeches, white papers, editing copy, writing adverts, copy for packaging, scripts, web copy, brochures, annual reports, investor reports, emails, faxes, shelf danglers, posters, stories, poems, blogs, and general creative writing projects. I am also happy working to tight deadlines, at home, in your office, overnight, and pride myself in delivering exactly what you want, when you want, for a good price. You'll have seen my work in The Times, EMEA Finance Magazine, Pipeline magazine, The Oath, the Wall Street Journal Europe, and a host of titles across the Gulf, where I am currently located - in Dubai, UAE. Whether it's organising an interview with Obama's National Security Adviser, General James Jones; talking to the UK Environment Minister Jane Kennedy about the future of the packaging industry, interviewing the head of a leading Arabian Gulf law firm, or discussing new credit risk management strategies with the surviving financial companies, I'm at my best when intellectually challenged and love my work. In 2011, I launched a law magazine for the Arabian Gulf, and am working with some of the region's biggest and most successful companies on their PR. More recently, I launched a lifestyle website, www.middleeastliving.com, for the region.
