I have a Degree in Physics/Astrophysics with Computing.
I Started out as Project Manager in PC Magazine's Labs, then went on to become Deputy Labs Manager, and finally Test Manager at PC Magazine.

From there I went on to become Senior Technical Analyst at PC Direct, and was promoted to REVIEWS EDITOR shortly afterwards. I am now freelance, and have been for about seven years, and have had more than a million words published.

I have written product manuals for companies such as Psion-Dacom, Commodore and Mitac, and actually enjoy doing this sort of thing. Case study clients include Fujitsu Computers. I also enjoy writing press releases and have several high-profile companies as clients (though I've been asked not to name them unless I'm asked who they are directly).

I used to have a regular column in Short Wave Magazine (all things to do with radio) and still write reviews for them.

I edited the Power User section in PC Magazine for about a year, and the Expert Buyer section in PC Direct for around two years, both on a freelance basis.

Areas of specific expertise include the Internet, web site design and HTML authoring, PCs in general, mobile phones, ISDN hardware, hard disks, graphics cards, and MUSIC (e.g. synthesisers, samplers, sequencing software, SOUND CARDS etc)

I prefer not to write about software.

Specialist areas

ISP, web, authoring, HTML. PHP, co-location, Linux, Windows, hardware, graphics, digital cameras, audio, soundcard, Internet, security, web, ISDN, ADSL, DVD, CD, printer, scanner, USB, FireWire, hard disk, storage, optical, mobile and radio
