My passion is writing. Ever since I could pick up a pen I have wanted to create stories. It was my hobby for many years and now it is my career. Having had a rewarding career in the lighting industry for 14 years I realised that I wanted to make a career out of the raw talent and ability that I knew that I had. Seeing my name in print became more of a joy than seeing my lighting scheme turned on. I have now had over 100 articles, features, newsletters and poems published in local, national and online magazines. I also have several personal projects on the go that revolve around writing. I have no formal journalistic or writing qualifications that are normally required to work in this industry, but I believe that people can slip through the net and become successful in this industry. I have become a member of the NUJ and want the coming years to be the years that I really establish myself. The ability to drag people into your article always starts with an eye-catching headline. I try to be both informative and entertaining in the articles that I have written so far. I try to write something every day, be it a poem, an idea for an article, short story or a spoof newsletter or just something funny that I saw. I have proved myself in the lighting industry designing lighting scheme after lighting scheme. I now feel that I have something to prove in this industry. I have learnt so much in the short time that I have been in the media industry. The passion and commitment, that I was confident that I had, has pushed me to write more and more. Writing was originally my hobby and turning my hobby into my career has put the icing on what is an already delicious looking fruitcake.
