Former Education Editor of The Daily Telegraph and columnist of The Independent. Was director of public affairs for the Committee of Directors of Polytechnics and helped the polys become universities; spent three years as head of PR for the University of North London (now London Metropolitan University). Writes regular monthly columns in Education Journal; covers all areas of education.
