Former soldier turned author, academic and freelance photo-journalist, lecturer in war studies and military history. Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham.
Specialist areas
Defence-related features, warfare, counter-insurgency, terrorism, military aviation, intelligence and armed forces. Interests include 20th and early 21st Century conflict, especially Cold War and post-colonial conflicts and low-intensity operations. Capable of solo-commissions but equally comfortable with collaborative projects, both short-term and of medium duration.
