I trained originally with the BBC as a freelance with the World Service, in the days when they still sent freelancers on lots of courses. For four years I circulated around many departments, (news, Sports, features and religion) before a staff job with Radio 4 based in the history and human interest department. I then moved to News and Current Affairs of the World Service, then relocated to South Africa for two years- working as a stringer for the BBC, both tv and radio. On returning to England I went back to NCA at the BBC World Service, and then took a short assignment in Rwanda working on co-ordinating over 2000 world Media for the Rwanda Genocide Commemorations. Following that, I spent a year's assignment in Ethiopia as a media consultant for the UN, and then returned to the UK to work on a channel Four TV programme about water. Since 2007 I have been pursuing a PhD part time, and continuing journalism assignments, including Marie Claire, BBC, and Arte in France.
