After gaining B Sc Agriculture at Wye College (London University) in 1967 I managed several farms until the 1980s. I then switched to journalism, my first role being machinery correspondent for British Farmer & Stockbreeder. My final position, from which I retired in September 2009, was senior arable writer for Farmers Weekly Group. In 2006 I won the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists Star Prize for Agricultural Journalism (see here: http://www.ifaj.org/contests-and-awards/writing-contest/2006-results.html) and .pdf file opposite.
Specialist areas
All aspects of arable farming, especially technical areas. I'm also a keen amateur gardener.
