Over the years Darren has worked for a number of small and large businesses, tourism authorities and organisations carrying out commercial photography across the Isle of Wight. However, by 2011 his focus slowly started to turn towards press photography.
As the months went on and the news stories developed, Darren started to provide regional and national media with photographs of major news incidents and eventually turned his focus entirely to press work by the end of 2012. Darren identified a niche in the market for a breaking news photojournalist to be permanently based on the Isle of Wight.
Darren continues his commercial and press photography and is also the editor of ‘Island Echo’ – a 24 hour news source for the Isle of Wight. Island Echo has grown bigger than ever imagined, reaching over 100,000 people a month and having influenced news media on the Island, triggering a number of changes.
Darren is a member of the National Union of Journalists and is a UK Press Card holder.
