I'm a freelance writer, editor and proofreader specialising in science and health-related topics: I’ve written on everything from astronomy to nanomaterials to mental health and social media, and everything in between!
I regularly write for Patient, AZO Networks and various NS Media titles. I've also written for NetDoctor, and Elsevier's Physics and Computer Science projects and undertaken proofreading and editing work, improving the flow, clarity and understanding of articles written by others.
Between 2009 and 2015, I was web editor at Laboratory News, writing science-based news and features, interviewing scientists and writing editorial comment pieces.
Prior to that I worked for ResponseSource and SourceThatJob. I am NCTJ trained, and have undertaken various placements and written freelance for local newspapers and magazines. I have a BSc (Hons) in Natural Sciences from the University of Bath.
My main interest and experience is in writing for a general scientific audience: I know a little about a lot and can take complex and technical information and turn it into something interesting and readable for both experts and the general public. Most of my work has involved writing on science, the environment, health and pharmaceuticals, medical devices and patient care, and consumer interest pieces writing on mental health and other such topics. I have also branched out into writing for Future Airport and World Wind Technology too. All my work can be found via my website https://kerrytaylorsmith.wixsite.com/kerrytaylorsmith
