I began my career at a literary review magazine, moved on to charity contract publishing, part-works and then freelance journalism. In 1999, I joined the world of contract publishing, editing the UK’s biggest circulation glossy at the time – Debenhams’ People in Fashion. In 2001 I relocated to New York to oversee the launch of a food title for an upscale supermarket. Back in the UK, I was hired by Redwood to edit several magazines including the award-nominated Co-operative membership magazine and a huge and hugely successful health project for Boots. In 2010 I set up on my own. I continue to write for many publications and also hone language for premium brands Birch & Brook and Mineheart.
I work across print and web formats, build websites and am SEO-savvy. I'm a wordsmith with a very visual approach, taking the whole 'reader experience' into account when devising strategies, tone of voice and that most important of chestnuts – content.
I've written about almost everything over the last 20+ years . Here are a few themes: health, travel, antiquarian books, stamp collecting, history, medical devices, startups, art, charity, hedge funds, online security, best websites, alternative remedies, eye health, interiors – and much more. Particular passions are history, interiors, health and travel.
