I am an experienced web editor and web content manager, who has worked in e-commerce environment for various clients;
an award-winning journalist (reporter, feature-writer, subeditor, page designer, editor – since 1972), a published book author, a web copywriter, a photographer and photo editor and a proof-reader;
fluent in hand-coding HTML, experienced in about a dozen content management systems (CMS) including Interwoven Teamsite, Tridion, Broadvision, Red Dot, on both Apple Macintosh and Windows platforms;
a web analyst, with experience delivering web statistics reports from Yahoo Analytics, Google Analytics, WebTrends, DeepMatrix, StatCounter and other applications;
I develop and maintain websites on WordPress;
I have been creating, managing and improving websites for blue chip companies, central and local government organisations and newspapers since 1997. My clients have included Ordnance Survey, Sainsbury, AirMiles, Office of Government Commerce, Office of National Statistics, London Borough of Tower Hamlets, High Peak Borough Council, Cambridge University Alumni, the Royal Town Planning Institute, Tesco Telecoms and many regional newspapers and publishers. 

I have improved the usability of websites that I've worked on, addressed issues of accessibility and usability, and made a real difference for my clients.
I am a commercial front-end web designer and content editor (since 1997), managing websites, setting up online facilities for transaction and marketing, writing and despatching email newsletters for opt-in subscribers, editing text content and web page layout and delivering web analytics (tracking web traffic and analysing the online activities of website visitors) and optimising the website for search engines. 
My solid newspaper journalism experience has provided me with the ability to write and create copy to very tight deadlines. 

I live in Glossop, Derbyshire, on the borders of Greater Manchester and Cheshire, within easy reach of the East Midlands (Derby, Nottingham, Chesterfield), Lancashire and South Yorkshire (Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham).
I prefer this radius but will consider working further afield if the contract is short and will cover the costs of commuting and/or temporary lodgings.
