Shirin was born in Yazd, in central Persia. Since the publication of her first book ENTERTAINING THE PERSIAN WAY 1988 and A TREASURY OF PERSIAN CUISINE 2002, her cooking technique and recipes has crossed the world from Europe to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, China, Japan, Vietnam and the far East.

Shirin has lived in England since 1970 with regular visits back to the country of her birth Iran. She is an active member of the Guild of Food Writers.

Shirin is the author of a number of books, the latest of which is A FEAST OF MY PERSIAN HERITAGE. Far more than just a cookery book, this work is spiced with anecdotes and stories about family traditions, as well as accounts of her travels through the various regions of the country, from pre-revolution to her very recent visit to Iran, some of which can be highly emotional. The recipes are given a historical and cultural contest which makes this much more than just a cookery book. Muslim, Zoroastrian, Jewish and Christian recipes are presented along with the details of their associated festivals and custom.

Shirin has travelled all over the world and can share experiences and adventures from eating insects and spiders in Cambodia, to treacherous hikes in Peru and avoiding bears in Alaska. Other countries include India, Pakistan, Nepal, Vietnam, Japan, China, Tibet, Hong Kong, South Africa, Kenya, Jamaica, Mexico. In addition she prides herself on comprehensive research for books and articles, over a broad range of culinary and cultural topics.
