I've been working full-time as a freelancer since the mid-1990s and am regularly published in the UK, US, Germany, S Africa and the Netherlands. Articles of mine have appeared in China (who paid) and Russia (still waiting).
My main area of activity has been manufacturing but I've also written on consumer affairs, such as the scandal of banking fees and unsatisfactory vacation experiences; travel subjects for in-flight mags; car road tests; macro-economics; banking and finance; risk management (IP risk, currencies and legislation, as well as insurance!) and, increasingly, on energy-saving and environmental topics, from wind farms to consumption reduction.
My portfolio also includes marketing and newsletter material for financial services, business improvement, hospitality, foodservice and auto services customers.
Several years' experience of PR has given me understanding of the requirements and the pressures. I've prepared marketing material - including presentations and conference content - for contract catering, financial services and investment clients. I also edited and produced a local magazine.
Public speaking - I'm competent with presentations, hosting, chairing, interviewing and even helping organise conferences. Here is a very rare piece of film of me in action, chairing a panel discussion for IET - see it here: http://tv.theiet.org/technology/manu/12071.cfm
Specialist areas
