A BBC-trained journalist and former UK newspaper business editor, Carole is a freelance author, journalist, editor and press consultant who specialises in travel and lifestyles. She writes travel guidebooks and destination guides, and contributes to magazines and newspapers around the world on destinations not only close to her homes in Cyprus and the UK, but furtherafield too. Her clients include National Geographic, Michelin, Dorling Kindersley, Thomas Cook, the Egyptian Tourist Authority, Frommer's, Northstar Travel Media, Time Out, Expedia, ABTA, Homes Overseas and some of the world’s major airlines.
Specialist areas
Based in Paphos in Cyprus, Carole is often asked to write articles and travel guides to this beautiful Mediterranean island for companies including Dorling Kindersley, Thomas Cook, AA Publishing and Traveller Publications. She writes on countries in 'hopping' distance of Cyprus too. For example, she has written or updated guides to Greece and the Greek Islands, Egypt, Dubai, Jordan, Jerusalem and the Holy Lands, the Middle East and the city of Istanbul. In Europe, Carole writes on the Benelux Countries, Malta, Croatia, Austria, Italy and Sicily, Germany, Poland, Spain and France, including her absolute favourite city of Paris, while furtherafield she's written on Jamaica, the Caribbean, Hong Kong and Australia. Carole also has a home near London in the UK, and writes regularly on British lifestyle. Carole's special interests include archaeological sites, heritage trails, gourmet cuisine, reviewing hotels, reporting on business and wedding destinations, writing about spas and wellbeing, real estate, interior design and celebrity pieces.
