Specialist areas
I write about politics, all areas of policy, current affairs and all aspects of information technology (particularly the business of technology). I also write with authority about all things new media both as a practitioner (since 1997) and as a journalist. Most especially the junction where social media meets traditional media. I have run editorial teams in print, online and broadcast environment, most recently as deputy editor at the New Statesman. Prior to that I was multimedia editor at Channel 4 News. Away from media and technology, I have a firm grounding in politics and policy. I launched and ran the award-winning Channel 4 FactCheck during the 2005 general election. FactCheck tests the claims of politicians to discover the real truth, and our work was routinely quoted elsewhere in the press and on the floor of the House of Commons.
