Educated at Essex University (1976-79) and Goldsmiths’ College where he studied Art History, specialising in twentieth century British Art. In particular ‘The Independent Group’ and British Art of the

He began his career in the Fine Art and Exhibition Departments of the Castle Museum, Nottingham, where his most significant production was an important and influential survey of work by women artists entitled ‘The Women’s Art Show 1550 - 1960’.
In 1983 he began working as an art commissions agent working with East Midlands Arts to develop the commissioning of contemporary art for public places for health authorities, local authorities, private companies property developers.
In 1988 he was elected to the management board of Art & Architecture, an organisation promoting greater collaboration between artists and architects. He has held the posts of Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and has been editor of the Art & Architecture Journal since 2002. He was also a member of Public Art Forum.
From 1987 - 1999 he worked with contemporary artists as owner and director of art galleries in the West End of London - Hunt Jennings Gallery (1993); The Air Gallery (1996), haus (1997) showing exhibitions of Bruce McLean, Adrian Wiszniewski, William Kentridge and Ray Richardson; and a gallery in the East End of London, the Columbia Road Gallery, exhibiting a new generation of artists. In 1992 he published a catalogue raisonné of the prints of Bruce McLean. In May 1999 he moved to Paris and launched La Galerie Blanche showing exhibitions by Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and photographic images from the Hubble Space Telescope.
In 2005 he initiated the National Public Art Conference Programme, programming and organising coordinated national conferences linking art, architecture and urban themes with the motto of people sharing–knowledge sharing. Conference themes include: European Ceramic Cities, Public Art in Bristol & the South West, Art & Transit, Art & Health, Art & Sound.
In 2009 he partnered the website International Directory of Sculpture Parks and Gardens, in partnership with Birkbeck, University of London. www.bbk.ac.uk/sculptureparks
In 2010 he launched A&AJ Press with the publication of FLASH@Hebburn Urban Art in the new Century by Charles Quick as a specialist publisher for books on public art.
Specialist areas
Since 2005 Jeremy Hunt has been the independent publisher and editor of the Art & Architecture Journal. He is a media spokesperson, panelist and lecturer on the subject of art in public places and has written for various publications including Public Art Review, Evening Standard, AQ, University of the Arts London Magazine, The Art Newspaper, NADFAS Review, Building Design, Hotshoe, Photoicon, State-of-Art and Iconofly. Current Research Interests include: Public Art and Culture in the Environment – Public Sculpture- Contemporary Celebrity and Football Monuments - Contemporary Military monuments – Art in Fiction – and a children’s book on pirates
