I'm a trained journalist with a background in business weeklies (Motor Transport, The Bookseller) and as a reporter and editor on the nationals (Sunday Times, Telegraph), both on staff and as a freelance.
I now freelance for a range of business publications, The Grocer, Property Week, CGMA Magazine, Today's CFO, SME magazine, Sage Solutions, CEO magazine, the Chartered Banker and others. Increasingly I work on customer content, comissioning, editing and writing features for clients including Ernst & Young, KPMG, Allianz and others.
Specialist areas
I'm a business generalist but with two main areas of focus. I've been writing about SMEs, owner managers, start-ups to mid-size businesses for well over a decade now. I'm interested in their potential, the things that hold them back and their ability to innovate, grow and create wealth for themselves and us all. I also write a bit about big business ideas, business thinkers, new directions companies large and small are going in, global trade and the big themes (social, tehcnological and economic) shaping the business world. I also contribute regularly to specialist business titles in the Banking, Accountancy, FMCG and Property sectors. A veteran travel guidebook author I also occasionally still write travel features and blogs.
