Bio
I first moved to Central Europe just two years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and have since then observed the region as it travelled, and still travels, on its long and difficult transformation process.
I first moved to Central Europe just two years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and have since then observed the region as it travelled, and still travels, on its long and difficult transformation process.
For a number of years I taught history and English on my travels but moved into journalism about 15 years ago. Since then I've worked for a number of English-language magazines based in Poland, and have become a regular contributor to the British press on Polish and Central European affairs.
Before leaving the UK, I somehow managed to get a degree in international relations and politics.
Specialist areas
I'm an experienced foreign correspondent based in Poland, covering post-communist Central Europe. I write about anything considered newsworthy from this area, but tend to focus on politics and geo-political security. Working mainly for print media I cover the region for The Telegraph and, occasionally, The Scotsman, and have contributed hundreds of articles for the two papers over the years. I have also written for The Economist, The Independent, The Sunday Times and CNN. Along with writing news copy for The Telegraph or also contribute comment pieces.
