Giani Boldeanu writes about how people think, decide and perform, and what happens to them when the pressure is real.
He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of ALTIUS Journal (altiusjournal.com), an independent UK-based publication where he has published more than 70 articles on human performance, psychology, leadership and public life, written in plain language for a general audience. His work has also appeared on Orange Sport (orangesport.ro), and he has been featured in Libertatea and Romania Insider. He is the author of Before You Seek Power and Vrei să fii politician?, books on the preparation and pressures behind political life.
He writes from inside the subject. He began working in mental performance in 2007, making him one of the early practitioners of mental coaching in Romania and Eastern Europe, at a time when the discipline was still largely unknown in the region. For 19 years he has worked as a Mental Performance Coach, Executive Coach and consultant with athletes, executives, politicians and public figures, after seven years of military service in naval, reconnaissance and airborne units. He also has six years’ experience as a television and radio presenter, and is available for broadcast interviews and commentary.
For years he has written voluntarily on these subjects, taking ideas usually kept inside coaching rooms, research papers and dressing rooms and making them clear and useful for everyone.
Recent work includes “Why skilled people sometimes fail when the stakes rise”, “Why everyone else seems to have their life together”, “Why we sometimes prefer bad news to uncertainty”, “The dangerous comfort of consensus” and “What power reveals about character”.
He writes in English and Romanian, covering the UK, Europe and international stories.
Specialist areas
How people think, feel, decide and perform, explained in plain language. Sport: athletes, competition, pressure, youth football, injury and life after the game. Everyday psychology: motivation, confidence, comparison, uncertainty, memory, habits, stress and wellbeing. Work and leadership: decision making, burnout, communication, trust and teams. Politics and public life: leaders, campaigns, power, character and public scrutiny. Performance under pressure in every area of life. Best pitches: interesting stories, ideas and research about how people think, feel, decide and perform, in sport, at work, in politics and in everyday life. Expert comment, real-life case studies, interviews and broadcast opportunities on radio and TV are all welcome. I write for a general audience, so anything that helps explain complex ideas in plain language is especially useful. Please don’t pitch: product launches, celebrity gossip or sponsored content.
