Shona is a UKCP accredited psychotherapist in private practice across two London locations, working with clients on anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, depression and addiction. Before training as a therapist she spent a decade working in addiction treatment, and she got sober herself at forty one, which shapes both how she practises and what she writes about.
Her particular interest is addiction in the forms we rarely name as such. She argues that a culture which rewards constant activity and achievement has simply moved addiction into quieter, more socially acceptable containers, rumination, overwork, social media, health obsession, rather than reducing it. She works integratively, drawing on parts work, psychodynamic understanding and somatic approaches, and speaks and writes with the combined authority of lived experience and clinical training.
Shona is available to comment on addiction and recovery, hidden or behavioural addictions, workplace burnout, the sober curious movement, anxiety, grief and relationship breakdown, and the experience of major life transition in midlife.
Specialist areas
For this field, keep it to specific tags rather than a sentence, since it works like a search filter that helps journalists find you when they are searching by topic rather than reading a bio. I would write: Addiction and recovery, hidden and behavioural addiction, alcohol and sobriety, burnout and workplace stress, anxiety, grief, relationship breakdown and separation, midlife transition, sober curious movement, social media and technology addiction, disordered eating and orthorexia
