Gemma Johnson is a personal trainer, movement educator and founder of And She Rises, helping women over 45 build bodies that support the lives they still want to do. She also teaches at Champneys Tring, where she delivers strength training, SpineSafe Pilates and movement classes designed to improve strength, mobility, balance and long-term wellbeing.
Drawing on her own experience of breast cancer treatment, medically induced menopause and rebuilding her health, alongside years of coaching women in midlife, Gemma specialises in translating the science of movement, strength and healthy ageing into practical, reassuring advice that women can apply in everyday life.
Rather than focusing on weight loss or chasing youth, her work explores how strength, mobility, balance and confidence influence our ability to remain active, capable and independent for decades to come. She is particularly interested in bridging the gap between scientific research and real life, helping women understand why their bodies feel different, what changes are a normal part of ageing and, most importantly, what they can do about it.
Known for combining evidence-informed guidance with compassionate coaching, Gemma helps women make sense of the often-conflicting health and fitness advice they encounter, replacing confusion with clarity and confidence. She writes regularly about healthy ageing, functional movement, women's strength training, menopause, longevity and the everyday movement challenges that can quietly erode confidence, from struggling to get up off the floor to rebuilding trust in the body after illness, injury or life-changing events.
Through And She Rises, Gemma is building a growing platform dedicated to helping women move into the second half of life with strength, curiosity and confidence. Her mission is simple: to help women build bodies and lives that support everything they still want to do.
