I have extensive journalistic experience spanning more than 30 years for a broad range of media - from trade weeklies to consumer monthlies, national dailies and corporate publications. I have been freelance for most of those years, having worked as an editor and sub (including the launch of several publications), news writer and feature writer.
I'm the editor of the monthly journals 'Network Security' and 'Computer Fraud & Security', published by Elsevier. And I collaborate with a few other infosec-focused journalists on the ContraRisk blog, podcast and special reports (www.contrarisk.com).
I'm a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
Subject areas include business, technology, IT security and biometrics, travel, aviation, defence and general feature writing.
I originally studied photography and freelance as an editorial photographer, with specialities including travel, lifestyle, homes & interiors and people. My stock photography is held by Alamy. I also work with my wife, writer and editor Patricia Devine to provide word/picture packages for magazines and websites.
